This is the best and easiest waffle recipe we have made. Thought you would like it, too! We like these better than waffles made with yeast in the batter. See what you think.
Buttermilk, eggs, butter combine for delicious old-fashioned waffles. We make the thick Belgian waffles and they come out crispy on the outside and tender on the inside - so yummy!
Delicious with a berry sauce, maple syrup or warm honey...
Makes 6 servings
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. buttermilk
3 large eggs
Heat the waffle iron. In a 1 qt. saucepan melt the butter over low heat. Set aside to cool slightly.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Beat the buttermilk, then eggs into the melted butter. Stir just until moistened.
Ladle or pour enough batter over the hot waffle iron to cover two-thirds of the grid. Spread batter to the edges of the grid. Close lid and cook until the "done" light comes on. Enjoy!
