My Latin is a little rusty but I have it on good authority that this is what we are celebrating in Charlottesville this year - our 250th Anniversary! The main event is the Grand Gala being planned for November 11th, 2012 at the John Paul Jones Arena featuring none other than Kool and The Gang. I wonder what song they will sing? Doesn't really matter because it's a celebration! (cough).

The local paper has a write up for the event. Apparently Kool and The Gang have been around so long they were almost booked for the 200th Anniversary as well!
