A More Intimate Monticello Experience

In August and September, Monticello is offering small group tours in the evenings for those would like to experience a more of the history that the site has to offer. The tours are limited to 20 persons or less and feature a guided tour of the house, including areas not available during the usual tour.

Sounds like a great way to enjoy Monticello on a late summer or fall evening!

Monticello Heritage Harvest Festival

This photo looks too good to be true, but it is true, Thomas Jefferson's real garden - a small portion of it, that is. You may see the entire garden and more on Friday and Saturday, September 14 and 15 at the premier gardening event in Virginia, the Heritage Harvest Festival at Monticello.

The 6th annual festival includes many events for master gardeners, novice gardeners and those who are just interested in fresh local food. The most special treat will be the appearance of Joel Salatin, owner of Polyface Farm in nearby Shenandoah Valley. On Friday evening, Mr. Salatin will deliver the keynote address and afterwards will host a field-to-fork dinner featuring produce from his farm. The New York Times has called him, "Virginia's most multifaceted agrarian since Thomas Jefferson." In addition he was featured in Michal Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma and interviewed for the documentary, Food, Inc. How fortunate we are that his farm is right at our back door!

Tickets are limited and should be reserved in advance. You may also call 434-984-9880.

Accommodations with us at our Charlottesville Bed and Breakfast, in its scenic country setting near the Blue Ridge will be the perfect conclusion to your adventures at the Harvest Festival.
Give us a call while rooms are still available!
