It was 1-0 for 6 1/2 innings, when Virginia unleashed a whirlwind of 6 runs. As Seminole coach, Mike Martin, commented, "[Virginia] messed up a good ball game in the seventh. It was a good ball game, everybody was enjoying it until they put a little six spot on us and it was ‘see ya later.’"
Virginia finished 4th overall in the ACC and is the top seed in this weekend's Regional NCAA tournament which it will host at Davenport Field. The Cavs will compete in their ninth-consecutive NCAA tournament, out of 12 appearances. This will be their third straight year to serve as regional hosts -- for the sixth time in nine years.
Virginia will open the tournament on Friday, June 1 at 4 p.m. against Army. Play will continue through Monday, June 4, when the winners will advance to the Super Regional, June 8-11.
Several of our guests are planning to go to the tournament this weekend. If you would like to join them in seeing the best college baseball anywhere and need lodging for the weekend - give us a call!
