 WineEnthusiast Magazine
names Virginia as one of the 10 best wine touring destinations of 2012.

And we are speaking of not just in the USA, but in the world! But we knew that all along, didn't we? Oh, yeah! Nice to have our claim to fame acknowledged publicly by this prestigious publication..."Historically significant sites, picturesque pastoral landscapes, elegant equestrians and affable winemakers set Virginia apart as an excellent wine destination on the East Coast."

The other two US destinations to be so honored are in California. With this accolade Virginia finds itself in the fine company of the countries of Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Hungary, Germany, France and Chile.

The WineEnthusiast article is online now and will be published in the February issue of the magazine.

In case you didn't know, Virginia is the 5th largest producer of wine in the US. Not bad! Our local Monticello Wine Trail includes 25 fine wineries - all in the foothills of, or in view of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains that surround Charlottesville. And remember the 5 boutique wineries on the new artisanal Appellation Wine Trail, Stinson Vineyards, Whitehall Vineyards, Mountfair Vineyard, Moss Vineyard and The Glass House Vineyard. All of these fine vineyards are within a stone's throw of your favorite Charlottesville Bed and Breakfast.

Jason Tesauro, award winning wine journalist and sommelier wasn't surprised at Virginia's honor, commenting that the wineries are making wines "in the style of  old world countries, wines that belong at tables".  He continued that being mentioned in the same conversation with Italy, France and Chile puts Virginia not only on the wine map, but on the world cultural map as well.

Take note, we're talking about wine travel and touring. In addition to the numerous wineries close by our most inviting Virginia Bed and Breakfast, nearby there are many interesting historical sites such Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, the University of Virginia, other presidential homes, antique shopping, and hiking - don't forget the (easy or hard, as you wish) mountain hiking! We hope to see you soon!
