The Glass House Winery, This Place is Bananas

These are some of the  pictures I took at The Glass House Winery in Free Union, VA during a visit yesterday, a very tropical experience! We were relaxing in their beautiful arboretum surrounded by banana trees and other definitely non-native flora. A welcoming warm place to spend an otherwise chilly Saturday afternoon. The yummy chocolates you see pictured here were hand crafted by an in-house chocolatier. I couldn't capture this picture before one piece went missing!
All of the wine was delicious, and I left with a bottle of the dessert wine Megio del Sesso, a chocolate wine made with Norton, Cambourcin and Cab Frank grapes and real chocolate. Delicious! Here is view from within the arboretum overlooking their large pond, a perfect setting.

During your stay at The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm, you will have a great opportunity to visit all of the wonderful wineries along the Appellation Trail nearby.  Be sure to stop in at The Glass House. You won't be disappointed. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. If you get a chance to speak with the owner Jeff Sanders, be sure ask him about the lightning strike!
