The Annual Peach Ice Cream Days Takes Place This Saturday and Sunday at Chiles Peach Orchard

There are so many things to enjoy in the heart of the Blue Ridge.  This weekend, for instance, a celebration of the Queen of Fruits will take place at Chiles Peach Orchard. On Saturday, August 6th and Sunday, August 7th, for two days only, the Albemarle-Charlottesville Pilot Club will be making and selling homemade peach ice cream, just down the road from the Hollow at Chiles Peach Orchard. This is a major fund-raiser for the Pilot Club, an organization dedicated to raising money to benefit individuals with brain related disorders and bring awareness to brain injury prevention. Chiles Orchard donates the peaches and the Pilot Club makes and sells the ice cream with the proceeds benefiting their community service projects. It's a worthy cause and they make some darn good ice cream! I mean REALLY REALLY GOOD HOMEMADE PEACH ICE CREAM!

Now that's a reason to take a ride to the Blue Ridge.  We still have a few rooms left, including one or two with large whirlpool tubs, but you'd better hurry.  Come see us!

Dave Matthews Returns to Charlottesville to Play the Pavilion on Saturday August 20th

We are so fortunate here at The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm to be close enough to Charlottesville to visit the  historic downtown mall.  There's always a lot to do on the mall, including attend a summer concert at nTelos Wireless Pavilion. A lot of talented musicians appear at the Pavilion. On Saturday, August 20th, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will play at the Pavilion.  This special concert will give fans a unique opportunity to help create a better world while enjoying an evening of live music.  Immediately following Dave and Tim’s acoustic set, Warren Haynes Band will take the stage at the Jefferson Theater just down the street from the Pavilion.  Proceeds from BOTH shows will benefit charities selected by each ticket purchaser.

Folks in and around C'ville are quite familiar with Dave Mathews. The Dave Matthews Band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, in early 1991, when vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape. Instead of simply recording himself with a guitar, he opted to bring in some instrumental help to give his musical ideas more depth. Dave found assistance in drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville music scene. Based on the recommendation of distinguished local jazz guru John D'earth, 16-year-old musical prodigy Stefan Lessard came on board to play bass. Completing the band was keyboard player Peter Griesar, who left the band after a couple of years, as well as the talented and classically trained violinist, Boyd Tinsley. The rest, as they say, is history.

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds at the Pavilion is a must see! And, if you want to spend some time in the Hollow before or after the show (we are only a 25 minute drive to the Pavilion), we have just the right room for you in our quaint little bed & breakfast. But you' better hurry.  Come see us!
