Charlottesville, VA A RECIPE FOR YOU !

Everyone wants this recipe, the tastiest and easiest dessert you'll ever make!

Raspberry Almond Bars

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cup old fashion or quick oats
1 cup sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup raspberry preserves
2/3 cup chopped almonds

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl mix together the flour, oats and sugar. Cut in the butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the almond extract until blended. Reserve 2 cups of this oat mixture and press remaining mixture over the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan.

Put raspberry preserves in a bowl and stir until it liquefies for easier spreading. Spread preserves over the top within 1/2 inch of the edge.

Mix the almonds with the reserved oat mixture. Spread reserved oat mixture evenly over the preserves and then press down gently to slightly compact the oat-and-almond mixture into the jam.

Bake 25-30 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into 2 inch bars. Yum!
