Excellent Virginia wine tasting should be your next adventure! Fans of Virginia wineries are happy to know that Virginia wines made the cut in USA Today's article"10 Great Places for Local Wines". Charlottesville, VA, in particular, was mentioned as one of the 10 Great Places in light of the fact that Thomas Jefferson was one of the first in America to try winemaking and his legacy still influences local winemakers. In honor of Regional Wine Week (Oct. 10-16) Blogger Jeff Siegel and Dave McIntyre, wine critic for the Washington Post, shared their favorite areas in the U.S. for wine tasting. Of our Charlottesville area local wines they specifically mentioned our excellent Viognier, Petit Manseng and Petit Verdot.
Be our guest at The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm and enjoy visiting the best wineries in Virginia -- only a short distance from the Inn. Check the Monticellowinetrail.org for the scoop on the outstanding Charlottesville-area wineries.
Did you know that ...this month is the 22nd anniversary of Virginia Wine Month -- and in 2011 Virginia will host 2 important wine events, the Wine Bloggers Conference, here in our own Charlottesville (July 22-24), and just down the road in Richmond, the Wineries Unlimited Convention will take place.
Jeff and Dave founded the website, DrinkLocalWine.com, a great forum for knowledgeable wine commentary.
