AT MONTICELLO IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA CREATE YOUR OWN HOLIDAY WREATH

Just in time to decorate your home for Christmas with a beautiful made-by-you holiday wreath. What better place to put your crafting skills into practice than at Monticello, the historic home of Thomas Jefferson, and best of all, Monticello is just a 30 minute drive from Sugar Hollow.

You have a choice of 8 different workshop sessions between December 3rd and 12th to create a festive holiday wreath. The 3-hour workshops will be led by current and former Monticello staff members who will guide and assist you in making a festive creation of all natural materials. After all, Martha Jefferson, Thomas' wife, did not have plastic berries and all-weather red bows to put on her wreaths!

The Monticello staff will provide the underpinnings of straw wreath forms, pins, wire, etc. as well as a cornucopia of all natural materials with which to decorate your wreath. Please bring your own hand pruners. The cost of the workshop is $45.

All workshops will be held in the Woodland Pavilion at the new Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center and Smith Education Center.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA BASKETBALL AT JOHN PAUL JONES ARENA

The women of our alma mater, Purdue University are playing soon in Charlottesville at the John Paul Jones Arena. On December 3, 2009 the Lady Cavaliers of the University of Virginia will  host the Lady Boilermakers in the Big 10 ACC Women's Challenge.

The Lady Cavs have strength with Monica Wright, UVa senior who led the ACC in scoring last year and who has been picked as a pre-season All American.

The Lady Boilermakers are in a rebuilding year having lost their top 3 scorers from last year's team. Last year's record, making the Elite Eight tourney, will be tough to beat. The Lady Boilermakers made a valiant effort in the Elite Eight, but lost to OK in their bid for the Final Four.

Lady Boilermakers -- young and strong,  Lady Cavs -- more experienced. Which will it be? We'll be there on the 3rd to cheer the Boilermakers on.

Boiler Up! Go Purdue!
