Virginia Wineries, Art In The Vineyard Special Event

An outstanding Charlottesville Winery Event, Art in the Vineyard, will take place at one of the best Virginia wineries, Saturday and Sunday, October 17th and 18th at White Hall Vineyard. The Vineyard is just a quick 5 minute drive or refreshing 20 minute walk from The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm. This is such a fun event in a most beautiful mountain setting.

Tony and Edie Champ are friends of ours and put on a wonderful annual October art and wine festival celebrating local artisans. They suggest that you bring a picnic lunch to enjoy with their award winning wine. Charlottesville's fine local artisans will display (and sell!) watercolors, pottery, sculptures and jewelry.
The $5 entry fee includes a winery tour, tasting and embossed wine glass.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA ARTS AND CRAFTS STUDIO TOUR

You have never seen finer arts and crafts than those created by these artisans of Virginia. Fred Williamson, our neighbor in Sugar Hollow creates the most exquisite wooden bowls from a single piece of wood  that you have ever seen. Fred's studio is just a short walk down the road from the Inn.

If pottery is your pleasure I can tell you personally that Suzanne Crane's work is a study in patience and detail. I have purchased pieces of Suzanne Crane's pottery for gifts. Her tiny detailed hand work in her pottery is jaw-dropping amazing.

You will thoroughly enjoy each artist participating in the Studio Tour and even more so when you use The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm as your home base.

JIMMY BUFFETT COMING TO CHARLOTTESVILLE VA

Margaritaville - another musical first for Charlottesville! Parrotheads mark you calendars for Tuesday, November 17. Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band will perform in Charlottesville's spectacular John Paul Jones Arena as part of his "Summerzcool" Tour 2009.

JB's new album, Buffet Hotel (yes, one t) will be released in December. The title song has a strong West African influence and was inspired by Jimmy's trip to "Festival in the Desert", an annual festival in Timbuktu, Mali. The hotel was the music venue and inspired several of Jimmy's new songs included in his 2009 set list. "Summerzcool" a quintessential beach song, is one of the new songs and became the tour name.

U2 PLAYS IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA

55,000 screaming fans at the University of Virginia's Scott Stadium. In their first Charlottesville appearance, U2, on their 360/2009 World Tour, brought a rock show to Charlottesville on a scale that was out of this world. The colossal stage was designed to offer a view from any angle and to bring the audience closer to the music. The gigantic stage has been dubbed The Claw and it worked!

The main set included "Breathe", "Get on Your Boots", "No Line on the Horizon", "Magnificent, Elevation" and many more. The encore included "One", "Amazing Grace", "Moment of Surrender" and other favorites. During "Beautiful Day" Bono honored Thomas Jefferson by quoting from the Declaration of Independence and sang a bit of "The Hands That Built America" at the end of the song.

The entire inn was filled with U2 fans from as far away as Massachusetts. Some arrived early, some at the last minute, all made it to the concert in good time. The October evening was perfectly clear and cool with a full moon. This morning at breakfast all guests reported great vibes from the Irish rockers.
