FALL FOLIAGE IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA

Have you noticed? The fall foliage at the Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm is promising to be outstanding this year. We took a short jaunt along Skyline Drive on top of the Blue Ridge recently and were excited to see the beginning of spectacular color.

Did you ever wonder how we get the beautiful fall foliage that we all love so much? Well, here's the reason we're going to have great color this year -- Last spring we had numerous gentle and plentiful rains which gave the trees an especially full and lush new leaf growth with vibrant green colors. The reds, golds, oranges and yellow colors are always present in the leaves, but in spring and summer the colors are masked over by the green of chlorophyll. When the growing season is over and trees stop making chlorophyll - Voila! the spectacular leaf color (that was always present) shows through.
