Get your tickets now for the spectacular attractions coming to Charlottesville's new John Paul Jones Arena. This 15,000 seat basketball and events arena is the largest in the state and will open with its flagship show, Charlottesville's own Dave Matthews Band, Sept. 22 & 23, 2006. The new arena is home court for UVa men's and women's basketball and will host at least 70 additional non-athletic events during the year.Additional attractions include:
AUG. 1 - CIRQUE DU SOLEIL - Do not miss your one chance to see this completely original Cirque du Soleil performance! Showcasing the famed troupe's first-ever live music arena event "Delirium" may be the most massive technical event ever to be created to tour arenas. This marks the first time in Cirque du Soleil history that lyrics have been especially created for the instrumental track. The show is an intersection of musical, multimedia, acrobatic, theater and dance performances. The spectacle will be composed of a130-foot-wide, two-sided stage with the audience literally "submerged" in the set. The projection space is the equivalent of 4 IMAX screens. Eleven musicians, eighteen dancers, six singers, eight acrobats and two actors will occupy the stage and perform at the same time.
