CHARLOTTESVILLE VIRGINIA - ENTERTAINMENT AND DINING
Entertainment in Charlottesville is the best! For example in February and March stay at the
Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm and visit our spectacular John Paul Jones Arena. The top shows appearing in February and March are February 10, Hairspray; February 20, Larry the Cable Guy; March 10, Jesus Christ Superstar; March 11, the Harlem Globtrotters. You may also want to take in a men's or women's University of Virginia basketball game at the arena.
Before or after the show stop by one of the two restaurants consistently voted Best in Charlottesville, both Latin-themed: Zocolo and Mas. At Mas, our most famous tapas eatery try their Solomillo de Kobe (thinly sliced kobe beef served very rare with manchego cheese and white truffle oil over arugula), with a pitcher of their signature sangria, of course -- mmmm, good! If Asian fusion is your preference then Bang! will be your first choice. For fine dining, the C&O restaurant consistently rates highly among the favorites. It has long defined upscale eating in Charlottesville.
If you prefer intimate dining in an historic inn, then The Silver Thatch Inn will be your first choice. The Silver Thatch offers contemporary cuisine featuring grilled meat and fish with eclectic sauces and fresh local produce. All breads and desserts are housemade by their pastry chef.

Charlottesville, Virginia - 2009 Film Festival
Do you enjoy the movies? Then you will want to stay in Sugar Hollow and visit the Virginia Film Festival beginning Thursday, October 30 through Sunday, November 2.
Don't miss the Opening Night Event, a presentation of Orson Welles' Mercury Theater War of the Worlds Radio Broadcast at the McCormick Observatory's Dome Room on the precise 70th anniversary of the night it terrified America. (The telescope will be available for viewing the alien's night sky.)
With fall colors blazing across the Blue Ridge Mountains, the nationally famous festival is staged at the University of Virginia with an emphasis on entertainment and education. Festival presentations range from Hollywood premiers to classics, documentareis, and experimental films and videos. Through the presentation of rare classics restored by archives and studios, the Festival calls attention to the importance of preserving America’s film heritage, and displays early films with the proper screening equipment and musical accompaniment for which they were designed.
Over 60 films are shown in just four days, with nearly one hundred speakers. Directors, actors, scholars, and writers engage with audiences in lively discussions about the films.
The theme for the 2009 Festival is ALIENS! Outsiders! Extraterrestrials! Go to www.vafilm.com for ticket information and a complete listing of films, producers, directors and screenwriters who will be at the festival.
